Senedd Cymru | Welsh Parliament
Bil Senedd Cymru (Rhestrau Ymgeiswyr Etholiadol)| Senedd Cymru (Electoral Candidate Lists) Bill
Ymateb gan Unigolyn | Evidence from Individual
I agree with the intentions of the Bill to maintain 50% quota of biological females already present in the Senedd. This is fair & does not prejudice against young women entering the Senedd in the future
The Bill must comply with the existing Equality Act 2010 to protect biological women's representation. Any sanctions should align with this existing Equality Act 2010. An NNCO would be add an unnecessary & a burdensome cost to the Welsh people; recruitment process, salary, training, consultation with Police, magistrates & other groups, CPD etc
The 'gender statement' is a barrier. This is imprecise, unscientific, not biologically factual & can be abused & manipulated by biological males who seek to create an imbalance of biological males with the current regulations.
Biological males who self ID as female in order to create imbalance within the 50% quota of women to men in the Senedd. This will threaten Women's Rights in Wales for current & future generations of females born in Wales. Females are born every day & we must ensure fairness to them throughout their education & lives as future mothers of children
Contestation of the Bill may go to the Supreme Court, with major costs to be born by the Welsh people.
The Bill does not make clear enough what is meant by 'gender' thereby complicating potential subordinate legislation for Welsh Ministers. Any terms relating to gender or self ID should be clearly explained with biological & scientific facts, in order to protect the Women's Rights in Wales. It must be stated that 'gender identity' is personal choice, not biological fact. The Bill must make clear from the start that women are biological women only & any self ID men choosing to call themselves women, must be acknowledged for that. They are trans-gender women, not women & should be honoured for their choice . Biological men must be acknowledged as such
The Bill must comply with the Equality act 2010 & the distinctions of biological women & biological men in the ECHR
The quality of the legislation must be made transparent, scientifically valid & applicable for generations of women in Wales in the future
